Pattern of education
Baldwin Boys' High School introduced the I.C.S.E. scheme of Examinations in 1970. Since then, our School has done remarkably well in this scheme. Basically, the I.C.S.E. pattern seeks to make the children understand the subject by providing an in-depth syllabus, rather than a broad-based one. It seeks to make children more receptive to the idea of using their own intellect in solving problems, understanding data, and generally allows the children to further their own knowledge on various subjects by asking relevant questions. It discourages the learning of various subjects by rote. It seeks to rectify the problem of making the children learn by-heart answers.

Here, General Science is bifurcated into Physics, Chemistry and Biology, also Humanities is divided into History and Geography, with question papers of 100 marks in each of the disciplines. The study of English is taken very seriously, and a good grounding in this language is aimed at. Regional languages are also a part of the scheme, as is also Mathematics, which plays a vital part in today's world.

This scheme has a uniqueness about it, in the sense that it makes provision for a SIXTH SUBJECT - either Commercial Studies, Computer Science, Economics, Physical Education, Music, Accounts, etc. This prepares the children for College, and gives them a head-start over others, as the State Level Scheme does not provide for a sixth subject.

Baldwin Boys' School offers the following disciplines as a Sixth Subject:

1. Commercial Studies
2. Economics
3. Physical Education
4. Computer Science.

At Baldwins, we are committed to excellence, and we have a more than adequate staff of experienced teachers who handle not only all the subjects efficiently but also handle the children in a professional manner. Since we have being in the educational field for the past 123 years, you can rest assured that your children are in SAFE and CAPABLE hands.
