| A
New World of Opportunity |
Once
you enter the Baldwin’s campus, you are in another world
altogether. The splendidly furnished classrooms, well-equipped
laboratories, comfortable hostel and excellent games infrastructure
are a tribute to an institution that combines the rich heritage
of over a hundred and thirty years with state-of–the-art,
space age facilities. It is simply amazing that Baldwins achieves
all of this yet still effectively manages to provide a warm
and homely atmosphere for its students and faculty. A journey
through the Baldwinian system of education provides our young
leaders of tomorrow with the knowledge, dignity, poise, confidence
and grace to realize their full potential in the outside world. |

A
Library is a collection of books. The word “LIBRARY”
also often means the actual place where these books are kept.
The
Baldwin Boys’ High School Senior Library has plenty
of books to choose from. A collection is made of books of
all kinds, to suit all tastes. Books on games and sports,
various hobbies, science, natural history, railways, cars,
ships and aeroplanes, music, poetry, plays, books which make
lessons more interesting such as geography projects, etc.
There are also general reference books like Encyclopedia Britannica,
dictionaries, the daily newspapers and periodicals.

The Library has a spacious room with bookshelves and tables,
where up to 75 boys can sit and read, and the best place is
where the books will be most often used. The Library is used
to the limit of its capacity, with boys crowding in during even
the Short Break (15 minutes), Lunch Break (50 minutes), before
School hours, after School hours, and even during “Free
Periods”, when boys will be sent down to spend their time
usefully. Books are given to the students to take home and read.
They are encouraged in cultivating the habit of reading.
The books are classified according to Dewey Decimal Classification.
This system groups the books of every topic under certain numerical
values. The books are arranged on the shelves according to Fiction
in alphabetical order author-wise, and subject books by numerical
classification, which makes the task of searching for a particular
book easier. Besides classification, each book is catalogued,
and cards according to Author, Title and Subject are created
and maintained. |
| New
books are regularly added to the already existing collection
in the Library, making it an exciting place to be in. New
arrivals are displayed prominently, so that all get the benefit
of viewing and borrowing them. Selecting new books and periodicals
wisely, is a matter of great concern, and involves the co-operation
of the Principal and the Staff Members forming a Library Committee,
who all lend their expertise and opinions, which are carefully
weighed before purchasing the said books.
All
students and Staff Members make thorough use of the Library,
which is a good thing, because this is THE HAPPENING PLACE.
We are all grateful to the Principal and the Board of Management
for providing this facility for our use. In fact, the Library
is in the process of being computerized now, and we would
like to thank the Management and the Principal for this also.
Recently,
we were sent to Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh for a for an advanced
course in Library Science, in which we were able to sharpen
our skills even more.
The
Library Squad is ever ready to assist anyone in need of help,
in case help is required, and are trained to know where exactly
each book is. So there is really no problem about finding
books.
Our
Library is a treasure room filled with treasures, a store
of knowledge. Us it with care. After all, it is your Library
too.
The
two excellent computer labs have always been particularly
appealing places for students. Here students gets the chance
to work on the most up-to-date computer systems and software.
They also offer the easy access to the Internet. Equipment
such as laser printers, scanners, CD-writers, LCD projectors
together with a wide range of audio visual and multimedia
facilities make them really exciting places to spend time
in.

The
Kindergarden has trained and experienced teachers, a well
equipped child friendly play pen, and ample educational toys
for each child to learn and consider school as a home away
from home. The strength of each class does not exceed 50 children
in order for the child to get personalized attention. It is
here that young lives are molded to form the future. |
